A tactical swing on a washed-out name into a catalyst — in at $46, out at $58 within a week.

What the market is missing
Sentiment and positioning were washed out heading into a known catalyst window. I was not making a structural call on Moderna's post-COVID revenue base; I was trading a specific, mispriced setup.
Why I owned it
This was a swing, sized and timed as one. Oversold mean-reversion into a defined pipeline read-through, with short interest that could cover — I wanted the bounce, not the marriage, and I was explicit with myself about which one this was.
What has to happen
It needed the catalyst to land into oversold positioning and short-covering to do the rest.
What would prove me wrong
The structural overhang was always there — the post-COVID revenue cliff, cash burn and binary pipeline risk — which is precisely why I refused to let a trade become an investment.
Valuation & exit
I realized $58 from $46 — roughly 26% — exiting into the catalyst rather than holding the structural risk. Clean swing, taken and closed.
